BorderUAS aims for a holistic UAS surveillance approach, integrating aerial and ground components, using next generation sensors and technologies and developing a consistent platform to be used for daily border operations and beyond.
The main objectives of the project are:
-
Development of UAS components to support low cost and long duration border surveillance operations. The project will combine for the first time a multi-role lighter-than-air (LTA) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with an ultra-high-resolution multi-sensor surveillance payload supporting border surveillance, as well as search & rescue applications, and specifically rough terrain detection.
-
To test and validate the solution in realistic border surveillance conditions. More specifically, three (3) field tests will be carried out, in one of which, the border police units of Greece and Bulgaria will have the main operational role.
The Hellenic Police, in collaboration with the rest of theLaw Enforcement Authorities, will set the operational requirements for the design and implementation of the system and will perform field tests for its evaluation.
