The strategy of the Hellenic Police Officers School for the organization and implementation of cooperation projects within the Erasmus+ program is based on two main priorities:
The first priority is the transfer of innovative approaches to students’ education, by improving the learning process and expanding their cognitive abilities in areas of high demand in police practice.
The second priority is the acquisition of knowledge and experience from European standards in policing, by the students themselves. Through the Erasmus+ programs, trainees will have the opportunity to identify requirements, challenges and appropriate practices for their use within the framework of their future duties.
As part of the Erasmus+ program and taking into account the existing agreements of bilateral cooperation signed by the Greek Government, the Hellenic Police Officers School, in order to invite further cooperation in common mobility action, will prepare a list of competent Police Academies and other related academic institutions and will propose it to the Hellenic Police Headquarters.
Priority will be given to partnerships for the mobility of students, teachers, and administrative staff, as well as collaborations for the development and participation in short/intensive training programs.
The Hellenic Police Officers School intends to establish communication channels with relevant institutions and organizations from other EU countries and third countries, including not only police training institutions, but also universities, research institutions, public and private organizations, and non-governmental organizations that have a direct or indirect connection with the academic community in related areas of interest to the School.
The trainees of the Hellenic Police Officers School, the administrative staff, as well as the School’s Scientific Council, will have an active role in the process of determining the scientific fields of interest, in the search for suitable partners and by evaluating the educational material and practices provided to them. During the first period (first year) of participation in Erasmus+ program, priority will be given to the mobility of the administrative staff, in order to acquire knowledge and practical experience in high-level police educational institutions.
During the same period, efforts will be made during the mobility of administrative staff to discuss with the other institution the possibility for further cooperation in the field of student mobility, identifying common areas of study that can offer the necessary accredited knowledge for student mobility.
In general, the Hellenic Police Officers School aims to improve the quality of education for new students by collecting and examining new innovative ideas that modernize the existed educational methodology and promote technical knowledge in technological innovation and development in police practice.
The second phase will include student mobility initiatives, which will be agreed with specific partner educational institutions in other countries. In this context, criteria will be defined for the selection of participants.
These trainees will receive the appropriate support and preparation before their trip, as well as continuous contact and supervision during the mobility period.
After the completion of the mobility period, the knowledge and the experience that the trainess gained will be reassessed and considered for future decisions regarding mobility initiatives.
